Standards for reviews, conduct, and participation
PressUp Eats exists to help people find good places to eat through honest, helpful information. These guidelines ensure our community remains welcoming, trustworthy, and useful for everyone—diners exploring options and restaurant owners managing their online presence.
When you write a review, share your authentic experience. The most helpful reviews mention:
Reviews don't need to be long, but specificity helps other diners. "The food was good" tells us less than "The breakfast burrito came out hot with perfectly scrambled eggs and fresh salsa."
We moderate all user-submitted content to maintain community standards. We will remove:
Do not write reviews about:
If you work in restaurants and want to review places where you've dined as a customer, that's fine—just don't review direct competitors or places connected to your employer.
Honest criticism helps both diners and restaurants improve. We welcome negative reviews when they're specific, fair, and based on actual experience. If you had a bad meal, slow service, or felt the price didn't match the quality, say so—but explain what happened rather than just venting frustration.
Bad reviews are most helpful when they distinguish between one-time problems (kitchen had an off night, new server was still training) and systemic issues (consistently cold food, rude management, unclean dining area). If you had a negative experience but later saw the restaurant respond professionally or fix the issue, consider updating your review to reflect that.
You can claim your venue page, update information, upload photos, and respond to reviews. When responding to feedback:
If you believe a review violates our guidelines, you can flag it for moderation review. We investigate all flagged content but won't remove negative reviews simply because they're unfavorable—only if they violate our policies.
If you see content that violates these guidelines, use the "Report" button or contact us directly. Include specific reasons why you believe the content should be removed. We review all reports promptly.
Users who repeatedly violate these guidelines may have their reviews removed, accounts suspended, or in severe cases, permanently banned from the platform. We'd rather everyone participate constructively, but we will enforce these rules to maintain community quality.
We may update these guidelines as the community grows and new issues arise. When we make significant changes, we'll notify active users. Continued use of PressUp Eats means you accept these guidelines as updated.
